01Who We Are
GilOrtega.net is the personal website of Gil Ortega and is operated by Profit Worldwide, Inc., a Nevada corporation ("PWI," "we," "us," or "our"). PWI operates several brands, including Chief Rainmaker, XLR, TravelXLR, LinkedIn Recruiting Engine, OBEYY Protocol and Rick Bliss.
This policy applies to GilOrtega.net and any related page, form, email list or text program operated by PWI that links to it. It works together with our Terms of Use and Disclaimer. Our business site, ChiefRainmaker.com, has its own privacy policy.
02Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you join an email list (such as the travel list on the Travels page), use a contact form, email us or buy something we link to, you may give us: your name and email address; your phone number, if you choose to share it; the content of your messages; and any preferences or answers you add to a sign-up form.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our host, our visitor tracking provider (unless you opt out) and the tools embedded on our pages may automatically receive device and usage data, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed and the date and time of your visit. If you open our emails, our email provider may record basic engagement data such as opens and clicks.
Information from other sources. We may receive information our visitor tracking provider associates with your visit (such as your company, job title or business contact details, unless you opt out), reports from affiliate partners about clicks and purchases made through our links (usually without your name), and publicly available information.
03How We Use Information
We use personal information to: send you the emails, guides and updates you signed up for; respond to your messages; understand how the site is used and improve it; understand who is visiting so we can follow up where it makes sense; track affiliate referrals; protect the site against spam, fraud and abuse; and comply with the law and enforce our Terms.
04Cookies, Visitor Tracking and Browser Storage
Visitor tracking. GilOrtega.net uses a website visitor tracking tool provided by VisitorTracking.com. When you visit, it uses cookies and similar technology to record your device and usage data (such as IP address, browser, pages viewed, time on site and referring page). The provider may match that data against its own business and consumer data to identify the company you work for and, in some cases, you, including details such as your name, job title, business email or public profile. We use this to understand who is interested in the site and our work, to follow up where relevant, and to improve the site.
Your choice. The first time you visit, a banner explains this and lets you accept or reject visitor tracking. If you reject it, or if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the tracking tool is not loaded. You can change your choice at any time using the "Your Privacy Choices" link in the footer of every page.
Browser storage. Your browser stores your tracking choice in local storage on your device. It is not sent to us, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Embedded third-party tools. Some pages load tools from other companies, and those companies may receive your IP address and device data, and may set their own cookies, under their own privacy policies. These currently include: our email sign-up forms (MailerLite); our travel photo gallery (Fouita); our testimonial widget, which displays LinkedIn recommendations (Elfsight); web fonts (Google Fonts); and our website host. Videos, books, the blog and our other brand sites open as separate pages with their own policies.
Affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link, the company you land on (or its affiliate network) usually sets a cookie so it can credit us if you buy. That cookie is set on their site under their policy, not ours.
If this changes. If we add other analytics or advertising tools (for example, from Google, Meta or LinkedIn), we will update this policy and include them in your privacy choices.
05Email Lists and Text Messages
Our email lists are run through MailerLite. When you sign up, your name, email address and sign-up details are stored by MailerLite on our behalf, and we use them to send you what you signed up for, plus related newsletters, updates and offers from PWI and its brands. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time.
We only send marketing text messages if you opt in. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Your mobile information stays with us: we do not share mobile numbers or text messaging opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.
06Affiliate Links
Affiliate Notice: I am often compensated for products I link to. It would be best if you assumed that any links leading you to products or services are affiliate links from which I will receive compensation.
When you click one of these links, we do not send your name or email to the company. The company and its affiliate network may collect information about your visit and purchase under their own privacy policies and report a referral back to us, usually as an order or commission record rather than personal details.
07How We Share Information
We share personal information only as needed with: service providers who help us run the site and our lists, such as our website host, visitor tracking provider, email provider (MailerLite), embedded widget providers, payment processors and our accounting and legal advisers, who may use it only to provide their services to us; legal and safety recipients, when required by law, legal process or to protect the rights, safety and property of PWI, Gil Ortega or others; and a successor, if PWI is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case the information stays subject to this policy.
We do not rent or sell our email lists.
08Selling and Sharing
We do not sell personal information for money. However, because our visitor tracking provider receives data about your visit and may combine it with its own data, some state privacy laws, including California's, may treat that as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.
You can opt out at any time: choose "Reject" in the privacy banner or under Your Privacy Choices, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser (we honor it automatically), or email info@profitworldwide.net with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share." We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18.
09How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. Email subscribers stay on our list until they unsubscribe or we clean inactive addresses. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we don't email you again. Contact messages are generally deleted or anonymized within 24 months unless we have an ongoing reason to keep them.
10Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including limiting access to people who need it and using reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If you believe a communication with us has been compromised, contact us right away at info@profitworldwide.net.
11Your Choices
Visitor tracking: use Your Privacy Choices or Global Privacy Control. Emails: click unsubscribe in any email. Text messages: reply STOP. Cookies: use your browser settings to clear or block them. Your information: email info@profitworldwide.net to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to correct or delete it.
12U.S. State Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon and other states with privacy laws, you may have the right to: know what personal information we have collected about you and how we use and share it; get a copy of it; correct inaccurate information; delete it; opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, including through visitor tracking; and not be treated differently for exercising these rights.
In the past 12 months, the categories of personal information we may have collected through this site are: identifiers (such as name, email, phone number and IP address); commercial information (such as purchases reported through affiliate links); internet activity (such as pages viewed and email engagement); approximate location (city or region derived from IP address); professional information (such as company name and role, through visitor tracking); and inferences about your interests based on your visit. We collect these from the sources and for the purposes described above, and share them only with the categories of recipients listed in Section 7. We do not collect or use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
To make a request, email info@profitworldwide.net or call 415-776-2020. We will need to verify your identity, and you may use an authorized agent. We respond within 45 days, or tell you if we need more time as the law allows. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and if you are not satisfied with the outcome you may contact your state attorney general.
13Rights Outside the U.S.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or a similar jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal information, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. We rely on these legal bases: your consent (for example, joining an email list or accepting visitor tracking), our legitimate interests in running and improving the site, and compliance with legal obligations.
14International Transfers
PWI is based in the United States, and our service providers operate in the U.S. and other countries. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the U.S. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for these transfers.
15Children
The site is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, contact info@profitworldwide.net and we will delete it.
16Third-Party Sites and Platforms
The site links to other sites and platforms, including ChiefRainmaker.com, XLRHub.com, GVSR.net, RickBliss.com, O2S1.com, blog.gilortega.net, video hosts, social networks, affiliate partners and travel providers. Their own privacy policies govern how they handle your information, not this one.
17Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. If we make material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to let you know, for example by a notice on the site or by email.
